How do you change classes in combat?
How do you change your class while in combat?
Is this a quest or something? I read that you can change your secondary class later in the game, but last night in the arena I was seeing my opponents primary class changing while I was fighting them. The fight did not last long though because he killed us all, but I was just wondering how to do this. He was wearing warrior armor and was a warrior monk but then he changed his class to a necro monk and then a mesmer monk! I thought it was cool that a necro and mesmer could wear the warrior armor though!!! Anyway where do I get the quest to be able to do this, is it ascension quest? |

You must have been seeing things. You can't change your primary job ever unless you start a new character. You can change you secondary job after asencion but you have to do a quest for it each time you want to change, so him switching isnt possible.

Also the icon that shows up when he casts spells would show him casting spells from the class his primary job changed to, thats why I want to know how to do this because I want to be able to cast monk, necro and mesmer skills at the same time to be able to own people like that guy last night.! |

ODDLY, this isnt the first time i've seen a post of this nature. Both of those threads were locked. If anyone else sees this I certainly recommend getting a couple of screenshots of it. The only guess I have is that theres some cheat program or bot thats started going around.

Dont blow it outta proportion now, its not hacks or bots FOR SURE, i cant say with any reason certainly thats whats up doc. Someone else already made a bug report to a.net about it i belive. From what I understand, theres a quest late in the game that will allow you to change your secondary class, and only once.
Changing any class in the middle of combat should be impossible. If you witnessed this i'd recommend reporting it (note the name of the character responsible for the act) even though someone else already did, the more letters or reports anet gets about a certain occurance the more likely they are to look into it. Once you've reported it forget about it and go on back to playing the game, if you witness it again take a couple screenies for us and pop it on the boards. A.net pays people to browse the fansite forums and chances are if this is regular enough they'll notice it. Last edited by Madjik; May 21, 2005 at 04:19 PM // 16:19.. |

maybe it's just a glitch where you switch targets and the name stays the same in certain combat situations. Are you using tab to switch targets or is it changing by itself?

Thats why I thought maybe ascended character or something can change class, dunno myself but others are saying hacks or bots or something. I dont know the name of the person I was mostly looking at the classes changing, didnt think at the time this was hack so I didnt pay attention to the name, but it was not a normal name it was many words, thats about all I remember. |

ya but not mid combat heh. I still sounds like a glitch, where you were just monitoring others abilities. If it is a hack then that's pretty crappy. I have no problem with simple exploits and bugs that don't hurt anybody, but the ability to change your job on the fly just kind of ruins the experience

Yea, unless this is the same guy under a new account this isn't the first time we've seen this post. I for one will be keeping my eyes open and when I have time I might check around the web to see if I can find anything. Very interesting.

I didn't even have to read his whole post to know what happened. Same thing that I saw in the Arena, the person you saw doing it didn't happen to be named "Jenny Chop Ur Legs" did it?
The only difference with what this guy says and what I saw, was when I experienced the hacker they only changed thier class once. You said Necro/Warrior/Mesmer and /Monk. So they can change it more than once? Nice, the hack is even worse than I orginally imagined. I had been theorizing on a possible way that it happens via a bug or something, but since there is 3 classes changing on the primary class that throws my idea out the window. Just hope NC/Anet can put a plug in this before its too late. |

i think what is happening is the person is a mersmer (i think). mersmers have a spell- arcane mimicry or something of that nature- that allows them to steal another players spells and cast them as their own. being able to change a class while in game would require a lot of work, as its not just the profession, but the skill set, attribute points, etc etc. a hack program of this calibur would require multiple packets being changed on the fly, while bypassing such things as refund points and the basic lockout on the 8 skills on the skillbar.

yes, but a w/mo may have been easily confused with a w/me.

omg no way. I thought i saw something like this a week ago. I colda swore i saw a w/mo at the start of the round then mo/r wearing platemail. he was also using warrior moves such as final thrust along with ranger and monk healing skils of course. I believe there could be a hack or easily obtained bug condition where you could do that. Mostly likly a hack program.

Once again, if this is happening to you just plain report it to a.net. Thats the best thing you can do. The more reports they recieve, the quicker they'll be able to determin its not user error or a false report. |
